As promised, here are the recommendations we've received so far:
-Stop by the city of Santa Marinella as we drive from Rome to Siena (which we have decided we are going to drive along the coast instead of taking the inland route)
-A small, tourist-free pizzeria in Venice, near the Italian Naval Academy
-Stop by Lago di Garda while we're in Verona and visit the small church on the Southern shore, and possibly the botanical gardens on the Western shore.
And from Chance, he recommends we stop by Rimini for the beaches and clubs, and see San Marino for the amazing castle (not our photo, of course):
-From Devin's parents, they recommend a restaurant in Florence called Leo's.
